About LSCC

OUR HISTORY

Living Stone Community Church was born on January 26, 2003 with 12 members from the former Evangelical Free Church of Standish.  The first church planting pastor was Jason Jones along with his wife Erika and their two children.  The revitalizing church plant was supported by the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.  Many mission teams and Southern Baptist churches from the area helped with renovating the facilities and providing evangelistic services to raise the awareness of the new church in the community of Standish.    The foundation of Living Stone Community Church was built upon the Lord Jesus Christ and the founding pastor challenged his people to be obedient to the Word of God, to share the Gospel with the community, and to have a heart for missions around the world.

From the very moment the church was instituted, God has blessed the efforts of His people and He has faithfully added to the number of those being saved.  In 2004, the leadership of LSCC felt the need to provide two morning worship services to accommodate a larger gathering of people.  In 2005, LSCC became self-supported and is eternally grateful for the the funds given by Southern Baptists and other generous donors.  In 2006, God called Pastor Jason to a church in Georgia.  A pastor search committee was elected to serve the church in finding Living Stone Community Church’s second pastor.

While the church was without a pastor, the members of Living Stone Community Church were faithful to pull together to carry out the work of the ministry.  In June of 2007, the church called Joey Marshall to become the second pastor of Living Stone Community Church.  Pastor Joey along with his wife Rose, began their ministry at LSCC in October of 2007.  Since that time, God has continued to bless the efforts of His people and the work of the ministry at LSCC.  In October 2009, God opened a door for LSCC to move from Oak Hill Road to the old paint ball facility on Route 35.  This was a huge answer to prayer as this space gives LSCC room to grow and expand as the Lord leads.  It is amazing to sit back and see what God has done and what He is doing.  “To God be the glory for the great things that He has done!”

OUR MISSION

Living Stone Community Church exists to serve the community of Standish by helping people Grasp the Gospel, Grow in God’s Grace, and Go for God’s Glory.  We pray that the community of Standish will see the exellencies of Christ, the One who has called us out of darkness and into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9b).

OUR VISION

1) As Living Stones, we desire for people to Grasp the Gospel  (1 Peter 2:1-8)

We believe that evangelism is essential in the life of Living Stone Community Church so that the lost might become a living stone.  We desire for everyone to taste the kindness of the Lord by putting aside the world and craving the Word.  We also desire for everyone to treasure the precious value of knowing Jesus Christ as the priceless and precious Living Stone. Grasping the Gospel - comes through repentance of sin toward God and saving faith in the Lord Christ Jesus.

2) As Living Stones, we desire for people to Grow in God’s Grace (1 Peter 2:9-10)

We believe discipleship is essential in the life of Living Stone Community Church so that our people undertand what it means to be a living stone.  We desire to help our people grow in their walk with the Lord by gaining a deeper understanding of who we are in Christ, what we have in Christ, and why we are in Christ.  Growing in God’s Grace - comes through loving all people sacrificially, teaching and preaching of the Word of God faithfully, and walking in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

3) As Living Stones, we desire for people to Go for God’s Glory (1 Peter 2:9b, 11-12)

We believe that missions is essential in the life of Living Stone Community Church so that our people will be on mission seeking opportunities to make more living stones.  We desire for our people to abstain from fleshly lusts of the world and obtain Christ-like behavior by walking in the Spirit so that the people in our community may see Christ in us.  We believe that God has a special mission for every Christian.  May He find us faithful as we surrender ourselves to Go anywhere for God’s Glory!

OUR VALUES

We acknowledge that all authority lies in Jesus Christ as head of His church (Ephesians 1:22-23).  We also affirm the authority of Bible, God’s Holy Word.  We believe the Bible is inerrant, infallible, and essential for salvation and spiritual growth (2 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 4:12)

Corporate and personal Prayer are crucial to all parts of the ministry at LSCC (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

The Great Commission is embedded in every aspect of the life of LSCC.  It is our privelege and duty to make disciples in our Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth (Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 1:8).

Worshiping the Lord in Spirit and in Truth is a primary function of LSCC.  We believe that worship is a supernatural human response to the presence and power of God that effects every aspect of our lives (John 4:23-25).

We are committed to the Biblical model of the family and strive to provide the neccessary ministries to deepen the faith of the entire family (Ephesians 5:22-6:4).

We believe that God has given every person in the congregation talents, abilities, and spiritial gifts to minister to our church family as well as those in our community (Ephesians 4:11; 1 Corinthians 12).

We believe that the Bible calls us to live a life of holiness.  We encourage our members to exemplify Christ in the church family as well as in everyday life (1 Peter 1:6; Matthew 18:15-18; 1 Corinthians 5:1-13).

Building solid relationships is essential to the mission and vision of LSCC.  This is promoted through Life Groups, Journey Groups, and different ministries within the church (Acts 2:42-47).
